Aspen - Long Term Foster

Aspen is an 11 year old silver female and will soon be turning 12! Aspen has been bounced from place to place. Despite this, she constantly shows us that even with all the chaos in life, she is a sweet little girl who shows her love for humans on a daily basis.

Aspen recovered well from her adrenal surgery some time ago and is a real joy to be around so you better be careful or else she will steal your heart (and maybe your slippers too)! No worries though as she always stashes her loot in the same place which makes those slippers very easy to find. Aspen will come to you when called and will sit with you for a short time for some cuddling before heading off for her next adventure. Aspen is very good about using her litterbox.

Aspen lost her best friend, Kiki, years ago to lymphosarcoma, but she is doing well with the extra TLC from her foster mom.

Due to some ongoing health issues, Aspen will live out her remaining days in her foster home.

Finnegan

Finnegan is approximately 3.5 years old and is a silver mitt male. Finnegan had a rough start when he first came into FRES as he had been found wandering the streets in the cold October weather. Finnegan is a laid back little boy who enjoys the other ferrets in his foster home. Finnegan would do best in a home with other ferret friends to keep him company.

Bonnie & Clyde

Bonnie is a 7 month old blaze female and Clyde is a 7 month old sable male. These two were not handled much in their previous home and are not too sure about people in general. Due to their lack of handling, they have developed a habit of biting out of fear. Their foster home is working hard on helping them realize that people are not to be feared.

Desmond & Molly Jo

Desmond is a 4 year old DEW male, who loves to be cuddled and give kisses. Both he and his sister Molly Jo, were abandoned and then surrendered to FRES in August 2007. He loves to play and can frequently be found wrestling with his other foster buddies. He also goes crazy for his favourite toys that shake and vibrate. He definitely knows how to have fun with both his ferret and people friends. Even though Desmond displays asthmatic symptoms and has a heart condition, he remains very active and would fit in well with any type of family. He is given medication twice daily, but for the joy he brings, the extra TLC is definitely worth it! His foster family loves his playful attitude and his ability to take of himself with other ferrets.

Molly Jo is a 4 year old friendly female albino, who loves to dook as she plays with toys. She is timid and sweet until she gets to know you, but can definitely take care of herself. She is very active and curious, and acts and looks like a much younger ferret. Molly is very social with other ferrets, as she gets along extremely well with her fellow foster buddies. Most days Molly is good with the litter box, but we all make the occasional mistake and Molly is no different. Like a typical ferret, she is a sock and shoe thief, hoarding them with her partner in crime, Desmond.

April & Jessica

April and Jessica are a great pair of 5 year old sable females. Jessica and April are a high energy, fun loving, entertaining duo! Jessica is the bigger girl, and can be very aggressive to new ferrets, but also is very sensitive to sudden noises and movements! She will slowly come into a room, looking around for trouble but if you make a noise or a movement in her direction, you can send this rowdy girl flying back to her safe spot just as fast as her legs will go! Two seconds later, she's back looking for trouble. She loves to be chased and wrestled with..she'll play bite (just mouths your hand if you let her) and wiggle and twist. Runs away and then comes right back. She is entertaining!

April is similar but not so prone to running away! While physically smaller than Jessica, April has no fear, and though she tends to get 'beaten up' more, she doesn't seem to take it the wrong way! She'll squeal and hiss, cry and moan, but it's mostly noise as she rolls and squirms trying to get the upper hand! She doesn't walk as much as she sort of 'prances', watching her cross a room is so cute!

Both April and Jessica had adrenal surgery in December 2009 and are doing well

Abbey

Abbey is a 5 old silver female. She is a 'diva' with amazing abilities. She can climb or jump up almost anything so your ferret proofing skills should be up to the task! When she's awake, she has a lot of energy and will either explore the house, or want to play some games with you or the cats! She views cats as toys to jump on and ride.... most cats hate that! As such, she will need a home with no cats or very well-tempered cats.

Hammocks are not good enough for Abbey, who has discovered sleeping in drawers is great since all the clothes can be rearranged for that 'custom' feel. She likes to follow her foster parents and help with the daily cleaning tasks like chasing the broom. She likes to play on the bed and be chased around the house. She enjoys a good wrestle and will usually only make noises when other ferrets whom she doesn't like, are too close to her. Abbey has learned that having ferret friends is a great thing and is getting along well with her fellow foster ferrets. We would recommend she be adopted to a home where she will have some gentle ferret friends. She will reward you with amazing feats of agility and intelligence as she does her best to get into areas that are meant to be Abbey-free. She has become an accomplished shoulder-rider and loves to be toured around up so high! Being deaf hasn't slowed her down in the slightest, although it does explain her deep sleeps. She needs more work on litter pan use, but does her best to hit the corners.

Abbey loves shoe insoles, so these are best removed from her reach or placed in a sealed box. She also has a fondness for soft rubber, so TV remotes, toothbrushes, watchbands, slipper soles etc. are all attractive, but deadly for her. Being so intelligent and agile, she can get many places most ferrets would give up on, so she will need diligent and watchful parents to ensure she isn't able to get into something dangerous.

Hans

Hans is a gentle, five year old sable male who has insulinoma. He was surrendered in April 2008 because the owner had allergy problems. This fun-loving guy loves the company of other ferrets, and is also good with people of any age. But don't let his laid back attitude fool you. He has a great deal of personality, and he can defend himself against the toughest of foes. He loves crocheted eggs and will hide them from his ferret pals. He loves to be cuddled and wants to spend as much time as possible with his human friends. He loves Ferretone, Totally Ferret treats and chicken soup. Despite having insulinoma, he looks healthy and is energetic.

Since being in foster care, both of his former friends, Cruiser and Grandma, have crossed over the rainbow bridge.

Brea

Brea is a 5 year old (approx.) silver female. When she first arrived at FRES, she had not been exposed to much in her life and was quite nervous when in new situations and when meeting new people. Thanks to the TLC of her foster family, Brea is no longer nervous when she is in new situations, however she does take some time adjusting to new people and tries to let them know she is the boss. With a little corrective behavior she does fine after she gets to know you. She does need to go to a home with other ferrety friends. She has good bathroom habits, but prefers puppy pee pads rather than litter. She loves to play chase and will play for hours with either her ferret friends or us humans. She discovered that she likes almost all treats but especially loves ferretone. Brea is well behaved, doesn’t climb and is very chatty, running around dooking to herself the whole way. Brea absolutely loves tunnels and the foster family's cat! She likes to get in the bathtub and drink out of a dish the foster home keeps in there for them.

Dawn

Dawn is a small, deaf 7 year old DEW female with a black tail. Like a lot of ferrets, Dawn is an exceptional escape artist and therefore needs to be closely monitored in a completely ferret-proofed home. She is able to squeeze into the tiniest places and will scramble into any open cupboard, fridge or door she can. Not to mention she is great at digging and climbing! She likes to play rough and can get a bit nippy at times and would do best in a home without children. She enjoys being outside and likes to go for walks. She does not like to play with toys and her litter box habits still need some work as she tends to miss from time to time.

Anastasia

Anastasia is a 8 year old cinnamon female. When she came to FRES, she had only experienced caged-life, but has since adjusted to free-roam time, most enthusiastically. Anna was scared of nothing to start, but has since learned SOME healthy caution. Anastasia is an energetic, fast, wiggly and adventurous ferret who loves to play with both human and ferret friends. Anastasia had adrenal surgery and has been doing well since then with no signs of it returning. Ana is very good with other ferrets and has had some supervised experience with a dog. She is very good at using the litter box.

Farrah

Farrah is a 5.5 year old sable female who will occasionally nip; her foster parents will work with her to get her used to being handled.

Sadly, Balen, a 5 year old DEW male, lost his life suddenly. He was a gentle giant with tons of energy who will be missed dearly by Farrah.

Blaze

Blaze is a 6 year old silver female who is a barrel of energy! She will romp around with her buddies for hours. Blaze is a vocal little girl who makes light hiss sounds but doesn't mean any harm.

Formerly of a group of 8, Blaze segregated herself from the rest, along with her friends, Dusty and Casper, who both crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

Felix, Koda & Cheyanne

Felix is a 3.5 year old champagne male, Koda is a big, gentle 5 year old dark sable male and Cheyanne is a sweet and fluffy 4 old silver female.

Felix came to us very young and still needed to learn his manners. He has improved drastically and is no longer a nippy kit. He has a ton of energy to spare and can often be found flying though the air while leaping and playing. Koda is the dominant male of this group. He loves attention and will follow you around, waiting to be picked up and cuddled. He DOES NOT like squeaky toys and will bite your ankles to make you stop. He will also sometimes bite ankles when he wants attention. Cheyanne is a pretty girl filled with spunk. She is smaller than the boys but don't let that fool you, she can almost scale walls.

They require a home that has lots of time and energy to devote to them, for which they promise to give back lots of love in return. This trio is wonderful and their foster family will be sad when they find a forever home.

Maggie

Maggie is a 5 year old albino female. Maggie was surrendered with her friend Molly because her owner moved away. Sadly, Molly has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge since being surrendered to FRES. Molly was a friendly girl and was well taken care of by her former owners. More information to be posted once Maggie's foster family gets to know her better.

Crystal & Baillie

Crystal is a 6.5 year old albino female and Baillie (pronounced 'Bailey') is a 6.5 year old silver female. These girls grew up together and were surrendered because their previous owner had no more time to spend with them.

Crystal is a happy, high-energy girl who loves to explore. She also loves to be with people, and being slim and rippled with muscles, she will climb when given the opportunity. Crystal gets along with other ferrets, but loves her pal, Baillie. She's gradually improving with the litter box outside of the cage.

Baillie doesn't like ferrets other than Crystal, but we're confident that with time her comfort with other ferrets will improve. Her only friend, apart from people, is her sister Crystal. She is fascinated with squeaky and moving toys, and enjoys cuddling when she wakes up. Her litter habits are good. Baillie recently underwent surgery to have one of her front legs amputated due to the growth of a large boney mass. She is recovering well and seems to be managing well on three legs.

Baillie has a complete distrust of other ferrets. Her only friend, apart from people, is her sister Crystal. She has an old injury to her front leg, but that doesn't stop her from giving it her all to a good game of chase. Baillie has a great fascination in squeaky and moving toys, and enjoys cuddling just as she wakes up. She is normally very good with her toilet habits.

Chaos

Chaos is a beautiful 7 year old sable male, who couldn’t ever keep up with his friend Havoc who recently crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Chaos likes to play and will be found running up and down the tube, but only for a little while until he’s down for a quick nap. He’s a gentle guy who, when you come to visit for play time, will come running at you for some cuddles. He does have an ongoing cough (cause is yet to be determined), but it really doesn’t slow him down in any way.

Chaos spent the majority of his life before FRES in a cage, so would need somewhere with a ferret proof room or a new home that is committed to lots of out of cage time.

Chaos has recently been diagnosed with adrenal disease and is awaiting surgery.

Marley

Marley is a 4 year old sable female. In Marley's previous home, she was caged most of the time and as a result has issues with the need to "protect" her cage. When first surrendered she would nip at hands that entered into their cage in an effort to protect their territory. With lots of time for free-roam play, Marley is quickly learning that she do not need to be protect her cage as there is much more world to explore. Marley has been diagnosed with insulinoma and receives medication twice a day to manage this. Polar was a very large boy who was Marley's best friend. Unfortunately Polar's insulinoma returned long after his surgery and we were unable to keep it under control with medication. Polar will be waiting for his friend Marley on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

Pandora

Pandora is an 8.5 year old sable female. More information will be available once her foster home gets to know her better. Sadly, her friends Murray, Autumn and Icarus recently crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and will be greatly missed by all that knew them.

Rudy & Sam

Rudy is a 3.5 year old cinnamon male and Sam is a 3.5 year old DEW female. More information to follow once they settle into their foster home.

Bear

Bear is a 6 year old cinnamon male who is very playful and inquisitive. He loves to bounce around the wide open spaces in his foster home, while dooking and trying to encourage the people around him to join in his fun. He gets along with other ferrets and seems to care less about the cats that share his home.

Kam

Kam is a 4.5 year old DEW male with two very distinct black circle patterns in his fur, one on his upper neck the other on the top of his hind leg. Further information to be provided once his foster home gets to know him better.

Kam's cage mate, Victoria, was a beautiful fluffy 3 year old champagne female who passed over the bridge after suffering serious health complications.

Flora

Flora is a 4 year old sable female who has tons of energy. Flora was diagnosed with adrenal disease and received surgery in 2010; however, she is showing signs of adrenal disease again and is on monthly lupron. Flora does not get along well with other ferrets and would do best in a home where she was the only ferret.

Jade & Mika

Jade is a 6 year old sable female ferret and Mika is a 6 year old sable female ferret. Jade is smaller and has more white on her face than Mika, but otherwise these two look like twins! Jade will nip, but it seems to be out of dominance and not fear; she likes to test her limits. Mika is laid back and cuddly. More information to be posted as we learn more about these girls.

Olivia

Olivia is a 2.5 year old silver female. She is bursting with energy and tries to get you to play with her by sticking her nose up your pant leg. She may give you a nip if you do not attend to her fast enough, but this is all in play. She can be dominant with other ferrets, but would love a companion or two that would not be put off by her tough exterior. Olivia is good at using her litter box in the cage and is paper trained in her play area. She isn't a fan of many toys, preferring instead to have your attention. She would be great for a home with adults or older children and gets along well with other animals.

Autumn, Koda, Maco & Magoo

Autumn is a 5.5 year old female sable blaze mitt, Koda is a 7.5 year old DEW male, Maco is a 6.5 year old DEW male and Magoo is a 5.5 year old sable male. Don't let the age of this quartet fool you, these ferrets have tons of energy and will keep you busy with their antics for hours!

Autumn is a sweet little girl that can play for hours on end and can get over many barriers put in her way. Tubes are a favorite for Autumn and she races through them at top speed.

Koda is a bit more laid back than his sister Autumn and does his best to keep up with her. He also enjoys a good tube race and loves his N-Bones chew treats.

Koda has recently been diagnosed with adrenal disease and will remain on monthly lupron as he previously had adrenal surgery and is not a candidate for repeat surgery.

Maco loves to give kisses to the humans in his foster home. Maco is deaf and has a crooked nose but that certainly doesn't slow him down at all. He can also often be found racing through the tubes with Autumn and Koda or stashing his toys. Maco has been diagnosed with adrenal disease and is currently receiving monthly lupron until he receives surgery.

Magoo loves his ferretone and will do anything for a taste. Magoo also loves to stash toys and run through the tubes racing Autumn, Koda and Maco. Magoo was recently diagnosed with a heart murmur. His foster mom is keeping a close eye on him for any further changes in his health.

Oliver, the fifth member of this group, was a 6 year old light sable male who crossed over the bridge shortly after his surrender to FRES. Oliver was the laid back one of the group, but could still get riled up for some fun war dance antics. He loved snuggling in fleece blankets with his other ferret friends.

Sadie, Cosmo & Mojo

Sadie is a 4.5 year old panda female, Mojo is a 4 year old silver male and Cosmo is a 4 year old sable male.

Further information to follow on Sadie once she settles into her foster home. When Mojo first arrived at his new foster home, he showed little interest in his foster mom's other ferrets, or even his new foster dad! It was up onto his foster mom's shoulder, into her sweatshirt hood and time for a nap! Mojo has since realized that other ferrets are really fun to play with and after a while of being shown the ropes he settled in quite nicely with the rest of them! Mojo has a wonderful personality and still sticks close to his foster mom (only really when nap time comes) and loves being with other ferrets that can keep up with him. Mojo has had adrenal surgery and recovered very well.

Cosmo loves to give kisses to anyone willing to let him. He also loves tubes, crochet balls and playing 'tag' up and down the hall. He is well on his way to being litter trained, with only a few accidents on the floor, with time (and practice) he'll be a pro. He is unsure of treats right now, but LOVES Ferretone and will follow you anywhere if he knows you have it.

Rustle

Yo Ho Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me!

Rustle the Rogue, a 6 year old silver male, is a valued crew member. He works hard at cleaning the cannons (running through tubes) and swabbing the decks (racing across the floor). Rustle is always ready for some high seas plundering. His favorite loot is ferretone and treats which he won't bury. (He might forget where he buried it, so eats it right away) Rustle is usually plotting the next dastardly deed. (Rustle also succumbs to tummy rubs and snuggling, but don't let him know I told you!). Rustle has recently had adrenal surgery and is recovering well. Although his surgery went well, he will need to receive lupron injections monthly.

Sadly Rustle the Roque recently lost his friend the ferocious Captain Reid who led this swarthy crew of pirates. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

If you have a house that needs plundering, and could love this scallywag, then hoist the Jolly Roger and call up FRES.

Kelsey & Travis

Kelsey is a small 3 year old silver female and is on monthly lupron injections, awaiting adrenal surgery. She is very hyper when outside the cage. She can be nippy, but only when she is playing and excited. Travis is a 3 year old DEW pattern male. He is very playful when outside the cage. Travis and Kelsey like to play together.

Sora

Sora is a pretty DEW female who is 4.5 years old. Sora had previously spent a lot of time alone in her cage so she really enjoys being free to roam for a few hours during the day. She’s very curious about people and her surroundings, and loves treats and will take them right from your hand. Sora likes piling all her toys into one corner of her room, and she’ll also take the toys from your hand and race over to add it to her collection. Sora does well with other ferrets and would also flourish by herself. Sora has a tendency to nip, so she needs a home with someone who can be patient with her, and give her lots of love and kindness and attention.

Alexis

Alexis is a sable female who is approximately 3.5 years old. She’s a very pretty little girl who loves to play, play, play. Alexis is very affectionate and gives kisses to her humans. Alexis can sometimes nip so she needs someone who can be patient with her and treat her with kindness. Alexis loves crinkly toys, tubes and treats and big blankets to dig through and sleep in. Alexis would do best in a home with another ferret that is really laid back, as she like to be master of her domain. Alexis would be a wonderful addition to any family.

Arora

Arora is a 6.5 year old dark sable female. Arora is a sweet little girl who loves playing in her rice box. She gets along very well with other ferrets and has an easy time making friends. She had even won over her fellow foster ferret Stacey (who recently crossed over the rainbow bridge). Arora would do best in a home with other ferret friends to keep her company and snuggle with on those long winter nights.

Frankie

Frankie is a sable male who is approximately 3 years old. Frankie was found wandering the streets and picked up by a loving family who turned him over to the care of FRES. Frankie has recently undergone adrenal and insulinoma surgery and is recovering well.

Whey Whey, Weasel, Emma

Whey Whey is a 3 year old albino female, Weasel is a 3 year old sable female and Emma is a 3 year old DEW Pattern female. Don't let the age of these girls fool you, they still have plenty of energy for playtime. Whey Whey is the most energetic of the group and can often be found running around the house dooking away. Weasel and Emma are the laid back pair of the group and Emma quite enjoys a good cuddle. Weasel will spend a short time cuddling with her human friends and then is off to explore again. These girls have good litter habits and will either use the litter box or the newspaper next to the litter box. Whey Whey had adrenal surgery in December 2010 and has been doing very well since. Unfortunately the girls have recently lost their friend Boncors. Boncors was a beautiful cinnamon female who was full of energy and could often be found running and playing with Whey Whey. They have both improved greatly and are loving being spoiled in their foster home.

Bam Bam

Bam Bam is a 2.5 year old light sable male. Unfortunately Bam Bam recently lost his sister Bijou, she will be waiting for him on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Bam Bam really enjoys hiding his squeaky toys and moves them around everyday. If you walk in on him in the middle of moving them he panics, and will usually put the toy back where it was before he went to move it. Bam Bam then waits until it is safe and moves it. Bam Bam would do best in a home with other ferret friends to keep him company.

Zokio

Zokio is a 3 year old silver male who is deaf. This doesn't slow him down at all though and he can be often found wandering the house dooking away happily. Zokio gets along very well with the other ferrets in his foster home and can quite often be found sleeping in a big pile with the others. Zokio loves to follow you around the house dooking all the way and definitely loves his ferretone and N-Bones chew treats. Zokio recently underwent adrenal surgery. While surgery went well, we were unable to remove both affected adrenal glands and he will need to remain on monthly lupron.

Eve

Eve is a 4 year old sable mitt female. Eve has a lot of energy for an older girl and entertains her foster mom by bounding across the room. Eve is very laid back and accepting of other ferrets and would do best in a home with other ferret friends. Unfortunately Eve lost her friend Nibbler recently. Nibbler will be greatly missed by Eve and his foster home.

Julia

Julia is a 3.5 year old silver female. Julia is a gentle little girl who definitely likes her humans more than any ferret friend. She will tolerate other ferrets in the same area as her but doesn’t show any interest in interacting with them. Julia would do best as an only ferret in the house.

Swipper

Swipper is a 3 year old dark sable male. Swipper gets along quite well with the other ferrets in his foster home. Even though Swipper came in as a single ferret, he would do best in a forever home with other ferret friends to keep him company. Swipper is a very active little boy who can play for hours on end, he even keeps playing long after tiring out his younger playmates. Esmeralda has had issues in the past with ankle biting and has made great improvements with this, she rarely nips at her foster mom's ankle to get her attention. It would, however, be best that she find a forever home with patience to continue working on this with her and no small children in case her nipping returns in a new home. Overall, Esmeralda has been a delight to her foster mom and would make a great addition to the right forever home.

They will be greatly missed by all who knew them.

These two will need to be adopted by a family who have experience working with fear biting.
